Adventure Activities
Safe and Sound run a large amount of activities both on a day basis and also multiple days. The list of the activities that we currently offer is detailed below. If you require any specific activity not listed or require a mixture of activities then please contact us:
Abseiling
Generally an activity that is combined with rock climbing this is undertaken outdoors on natural rock. We use one of the finest venues in Llangollen with stunning views over the Welsh countryside.
The abseils vary in height and difficulty depending on the age and ability of the group.
Gorge walking
Gorge Walking is a fun, safe, enjoyable activity that involves climbing up or walking down a river bed.
You may also need to jump into deep clear pools or slide down waterfalls during the course of your day.We have two gorges that we use depending on age and ability.
Try Nant Y Frith for starters where the famous "Welsh Marmottes" live.
Or Try Cynwyd for a bit more of a challenge. Slides and jumps galore
Open Canoeing
A brilliant way of exploring the surrounding area. Using our two/three man open canoes we will take you on the picturesque Llangollen canal and show you the basics and play lots of games.
Safety is essential and we use the canal for the fact it is only waist deep for juniors and primary children.
For more adventurous we can do river trips on the Dee and surrounding rivers. North Wales has abundant rivers and lakes to choose from.
We can also run expeditions using Open Canoes to Scotland and further into Wales.
Kayaking
Similar to Open Canoeing but this time you are on your own. Again utilising the Llangollen canal the session will involve lots of games and some teaching.
We can also run more advanced sessions and also skills courses for those interested.
Rock Climbing
Using a variety of sites around North Wales we can offer an allround experience of climbing.
Combined with abseiling it makes for a fun session set in the stunning Llangollen valley.
Safety is paramount on session and all participants will have a rigorous safety brief before taking part in the session.
Hill Walking
Want to sample the local area around Llangollen? In Llangollen alone there are miles or excellent trails to visit, the highlights being Castell Dinas Bran and Valle Crucis abbey.
In Snowdonia there are more adventurous undertakings if you wish. How about Snowdon for starters?
Archery
This is one activity that everyone can enjoy. Whatever your ability. Have a go at playing Robin Hood for a while and see how many “golds” you can get. Or even try your hand at popping balloons or play one of our many games.
Archery is mobile so could be brought to your school.
Bushcraft
Bushcraft skills are a useful thing to know even in today’s modern climate.
You will learn a bit about firelighting, how to build a shelter and some basic food information.
More advanced courses can have overnight stays in shelters etc.
High Ropes Courses
Our high rope courses will change they way you look at life because you will be over 10 meters off the ground running the gauntlet of our aerial assault courses.
