Where We Are


By Road From the North - From the M56 take Junction 15 onto the M53 and take the left exit from the roundabout at the end of the motorway sign-posted A55 and Queensferry. Stay on A55 until you reach turn-off sign-posted A483 Wrexham and continue on dual carriageway for approx. 15 miles and come off at junction sign posted A539 Llangollen. The town is approx 5 miles further on.

From the South - Exit M6 at Junction 10A for M54 and Shrewsbury and continue along M54 until it blends with the A5. You are now on Telford's historic London to Holyhead Road and follow signs the A5 past Oswestry and onto Llangollen. Approximate distance 50 miles.

Rail Services The nearest railway stations are Ruabon and Chirk. From Ruabon Station, walk down the station slip road to the main road and cross over to the other side where you will see the bus stop. Buses to Llangollen are every 15 minutes during the day Monday - Saturday. All trains arriving at Chirk are met by the local bus services to Llangollen.

Safe and Sound Outdoors is a trading name of Safe and Sound Outdoors (2007) Ltd (Company number 07638377) which in addition to providing Outdoor Experiences for individuals and school groups, also provides outdoor education for challenging young people. We currently employ 5 full time members of staff and have a number of highly skilled and qualified freelance staff on our team. We provide high quality outdoor activities in a range of subjects. We are registered with AALA who oversee all of our activities delivered to under 18's. We also subscribe to lOL and have an LOTC quality badge.

Safe and Sound Outdoors was set up by Craig Forde in 2007 with the aim of the company being to offer good, quality outdoor education to schools and youth groups using a small focused group of instructors dedicated in their chosen field. In addition to offering high quality outdoor education we have also in recent years begun focusing in different areas in particular staff training and development and Duke of Edinburgh's Awards.

We have worked with a number of schools and clients including Seaford College, Cavalry Primary School, Wodensborough Academy. Shropshire County Council, New Reflexions, BT, Wrexham FC amongst many others.

Since 2007 we have grown to our current size with our staff team but still focus on our aims that we set at the start of delivering high quality.

Craig has been working in the outdoors for the past 30 vears both full time and as a freelance instructor. He has in the past managed a variety of outdoor centres both here and abroad.

Craig has led a variety of groups in numerous different locations both here and abroad including leading on a month-long expedition to Nicaragua in order for the group to complete their Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.

A passionate outdoor enthusiast he enjoys nothing better than passing on his skills and knowledge to others through the outdoors in training course and taster sessions. Having had the benefit of taking part in outdoor education trips as a young person he fully appreciates the benefits of the outdoors as a teaching platform.

Safe and Sound Outdoors is fully recognised by the AALA (Licence number R1422) and as such has a Licence to teach under 18's the following outdoor activities: Rock Climbing, Open Canoeing, Kayaking, Abseiling, Hill Walking, Gorge Walking, Whitewater Rafting., Stand Up paddle Boarding, Mountain Biking and River Bugging.

Safety is our top priority (it's in our name!), and that is why as well as ensuring our team have the experience and enthusiasm to deliver brilliant outdoor learning the whole team is enhanced DBS checked.
